The TIC Salut Social Foundation and the Catalan Society of Radiology “Radiologists of Catalonia” have signed a framework collaboration agreement to develop and promote shared strategies aimed at integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into radiological care processes within the Catalan healthcare system.
The agreement establishes a common working framework to promote research, training and innovation projects that bring added value to the field of radiology, through the analysis of sector needs and the definition of new lines of action focused on the incorporation of this technology.
A joint monitoring committee, made up of representatives from both entities, will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the execution of the projects during the initial four-year duration of the agreement. As Dr. Pedraza, president of the Catalan Society of Radiology “Radiologists of Catalonia,” states, around 80% of artificial intelligence algorithms belong to the area of diagnostic and interventional radiology, and this agreement represents “a reinforcement of the leadership of the Catalan healthcare system in advancing the implementation of AI across all phases of the care process in both diagnosis and image-guided treatment.”

The role of the parties

The Catalan Society of Radiology “Radiologists of Catalonia” will identify key clinical and professional needs and will participate in validating the processes and outcomes of the projects. For its part, the TIC Salut Social Foundation, within the framework of the Health/AI Program, will lead project support to ensure alignment with regulatory, ethical, and scalability requirements within the public healthcare system.
Each project will be formalized through a specific action plan outlining objectives, work phases, execution timelines, and collaboration terms. If a project extends beyond the initial four-year agreement, the collaboration may be extended, thus establishing a new network of work and cooperation that enhances the efficiency of services provided in care, research, and the training of current and future professionals
